Residence C E
A couple approaching retirement, with their children living in separate cities, used this new home renovation to collectively envision their future daily life as a family of four.
The site faces a lush forest, boasting an excellent geographical location that allows for a view of the vast and eternal greenery from indoors. Leveraging the existing nearly 16-meter-wide floor-to-ceiling windows, the design enhances the continuity of the panoramic view and maximizes natural light intake.
The living room, floral arrangement area, and dining room, comprising three functional units, form a continuous and open public space. The two-way sofa arrangement creates possibilities for various usage scenarios. While the husband gathers with friends in the living room, the wife simultaneously conducts teaching demonstrations in the floral arrangement area. The space can be used independently while maintaining a sense of interconnectedness.
The environment always reflects the users’ inner states. With a focus on natural and earthy color tones, the blue sky and green sea outside the windows become an integral part of the facade. The floral arrangements inside the space serve as colorful accents to the overall decor.
