Residence WH E

The project involves a residence of a couple and their two daughters. The original entryway design was winding and required more space, which encroached on the kitchen space. The client expressed a desire for the kitchen and dining room to be a central part of family life. Hence, the design of the public space revolved around this concept.

We redesigned the entryway to have a more direct layout, which created more space in the kitchen. We also converted the back-balcony guest room into a workroom and a storage room, while adjusting all the private areas. The new layout is oriented towards the windows for optimal lighting and ventilation, shaping the spatial relationship between public and private areas. The airy living room and the integrated open kitchen and dining area promote interaction between various public spaces which serve for different functions.

The color scheme features earth tones, with a themed accent wall in each room to add a splash of color. To shift away from conventional material use patterns, we used special paints in place of ceramic tiles in the kitchen-dining area and dry zone of the bathroom. Additionally, we incorporated metallic textured paints and titanium-plated trims into the TV wall for added visual layering.
